Charles A. Gilman, 72, of Mill Road, Richmond, died July 14, 2007, at Cheshire
Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene following a period of failing health.
He was born in Pittsfield Nov. 30, 1934, son of Harold and Louise (Emerson) Gilman.
He grew up in Pittsfield graduating in 1952 from Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Gilman earned his bachelor's degree in education from Keene State College. He was
a teacher at Cutler Elementary School in Swanzey, then for 20 years taught junior high science at Thayer High School in Winchester.
His students remained a very important part of his life even following their graduation, and they would continue to comtact
him often.
Folowing his teaching career, Mr. Gilman owned and operated the Mount Pisgah Diner in Winchester
for several years. Residents of Winchester that Mr. Gilman came to know held a special place in his heart. He
was a former selectman for the townof RIchmond.
He was a very creative person, writing several stories including his first book, "Christmas
Sunday", which is currently in the process of being published. He was also a talented illustrator.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Judith (Fassett) Gilman of Richmond, a brother, Leonard
Gilman and his wife, Norma, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Barbara Gilman of Alton and Dorothy Polichronopolous and her husband,
Arthur, of Manchester; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Fassett of Richmond; a brother-in-law, Paul and his wife, Judy Fassett of
Swanzey Center; four godchildren, Brooke Field, Colby Young, Raine Clark and John Swierk; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, will be private.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St., Keene.
Friends are invited.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Mr. Gilman's memory
to Richmond Rescue Squad, in care of Buzz Shaw, treasurer, 29 Old Homestead Highway, Richmond 03431.

Aunt Joann died December 28, 2007. Her funeral and burial were held on January 3, 2008. Aunt
JoAnn was laid to rest in Spokane, Missouri. She was the daughter of
James Ross Hilton & Minerva Edith Thornton.
She is survived by her daughter Vicki Lynn White, of Missouri.
Her son, John Steven Mohney, born December 17, 1955, died in Dec. of 2003, Welling, Ok.
URQUHART, Neil William URQUHART, Neil William - 62, West Bay, Richmond Co., died suddenly Saturday,
January 12, 2008, in West Bay. Born in Sydney, he was a son of Catherine (Gillis) Urquhart, West Bay, and the late Donald
Urquhart. Neil was a retired superintendent of the TMP Plant, Stora Forest Industries, Point Tupper. He was a member of West
Bay United Church, owned and operated the Bras d’Or Lake Mink Ranch, and was a member of the Nova Scotia Mink Breeders
Association. Neil enjoyed gardening, boating, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. He is survived by companion, Gail Johnson;
daughters, Lena LeBlanc, Halifax; Heather (Lennan) Hart, Port Hawkesbury; son, Les (Laurie), West Bay; sister, Lorraine (John)
Walker, Marion Bridge; brothers, David, Hamilton, Ont.; Glen (Anna), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Lydia, Rowan, Kale, Callie,
Keira, Madison, and Brett; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. this evening and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday
in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mark’s United
Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. David MacLean officiating. Reception to follow in West Bay Community Hall. Burial in West
Bay Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to West Bay Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice. Words
